Last Game of the Season

October 23, 2008
The girls took the field for the last game of the season hoping to accomplish an undefeated season, with only 9 starters due to starting sweeper Sabrina Burrell being out with a stomach virus. Dominique Lieze and Allison joined in so the girls wouldn't be out numbered but again the eagles had no subs. Megan Lutes scored on an assist by Julia Marshall and ACA took the lead. Pilgrim Academy later tied it up and took the lead in the middle of the second half. This was the first time all season the girls were losing a game. The girls battled on but were unable to regain the lead. Although they were disappointed to give up the undefeated season, their hard work and determination in the midst of setback after setback is to be commended. Great season girls!!!!

Girls Face More Adversity in The Final Week of The Season

October 21, 2008
Kayla Jenny joined Angelina Lieze and Christy Lamastra on the sideline for the final week of the season due to a fracture in the growth plate of the foot that the ER doctors had originally missed. Eighth grader Allison DePhilipo helped out by playing with the team in the final two games. Despite the loss of yet another starter the eagles started the week strong with a 9-1 victory over The Christian Academy. Megan Lutes and Jullilet Pollock acheived hat tricks in the game scoring 3 goals each. Mary Byarm scored on an assist by Grace Delonis and Marissa Capello and Missy Civile both scored their first goals of the season. Great job girls!!!

Tough Game for Boys

The ACA boys soccer team lost a tough game against The Christian Academy last Thursday, Oct.9th by a score of 4-1. The lone ACA goal was scored after Phillip Mastoridis fired a rocket that was blocked by TCA's goalie. The ball bounced out of the goalie's hands into the path of Matthew Hilton, who booted the rebound perfectly. Nice shot Matt! Our boy's gave a great effort and played tough through the entire game.

Wounded Eagles Achieve 5-0 Shutout

Without two injured starting forwards and no team substitutes available for the second straight game, the girls soccer team took the field at The Christian Academy in Brookhaven, PA on Thursday afternoon. Regular defensive back Juliet Pollock again started up on the front line and had an incredible game scoring two goals and assisting in two additional goals. Megan Lutes, still suffering from a knee injury, went down early in the game and was unable to play most of the first half. She was replaced by Dominique Lieze who although not a member of the team again offered to suit up and play if needed. Megan was able to return to the game for the second half, then went on to score two goals. Marissa Capello earned her first assist of the season and Mary Byarm also scored. Keeper Kayla Jenny, still suffering from an elbow injury, provided strength in the mid-field while Missy Civile started her fourth straight game in the net. Missy did a fantastic job and truly earned the shut out making multiple saves, even during the final moments of the game. The defense, led by stopper Grace Delonis, played with heart and determination and is congratulated on achieving their second shut out of the season.

Girls Give 100% To Compensate the Loss of Two Starting Forwards

The girl's soccer team pressed on to preserve their undefeated season without injured starting forwards Angelina Lieze and Christy Lamastra. Julliet Pollock, who usually starts as a defender, joined the front line as right wing and assisted a goal. Megan Lutes had the other assist. Mary Byarm scored both goals. Stopper Grace Delonis returned to the line-up and did a fantastic job. Halfback Marissa Capello provided some much needed strength in the mid-field. Since the team was without substitutes, Dominique Lieze helped out by suiting up and waiting on the sidelines to be available if needed. She was needed late in the 2nd half when injured left wing Megan Lutes needed to come out. The team spirit and the school spirit is to be applauded!!! With several substitues on the sideline, Kings Christian was able to rotate their players every few minutes to keep them well rested and fresh. Unfortunately for the eagles, Kings scored the tying goal on a corner kick with just 30 seconds left on the clock. Final score: 2-2. Way to press on eagles!

Girls Win Tough Battle Despite Injuries

The girls soccer team has suffered some major injuries in the last few games. When they took the field at Pilgrim Academy on Tuesday they were without defenders Grace Delonis and Juliet Pollock and completely without substitues. Missy Civile started her second game in goal due to injuries to the regular goalie, Kayla Jenny. The team pulled together and everyone gave 100%. The hard work paid off, and Angelina Lieze and Megan Lutes were both able to score on assists by Christy Lamastra. Late in the second half, Christy suffered a knee sprain on a collision with a defender and was unable to play the last 7 minutes. The eagles continued to battle hard playing 10 v 11 and maintained the lead. The speed and hustle of defender Subrina Burrell was key in the victory. All were relieved when the final whistle blew with ACA on top 2-1.

A WIN VS. CUMBERLAND CHRISTIAN

Our boys did it again! Hungry for another win, the entire team contributed to a 4-1 victory over Cumberland Christian. The goals were scored by Phillip Mastoridis, Tyler Wardle, Joey Gorka, and Matthew Hilton. Phillip Matoridis assisted one of the goals and Billy Scanlon assisted twice. Towan Skinner blasted a penalty kick from outside the Goalie's box that was an inch from scoring, but bounced off the top post. Nice shot, Towan! Defensively, our boys were able to out-hustle and shut down their offense for all but single goal scored late in the game. Every player should be proud of their contribution and effort. WAY TO GO BOYS! This victory brings the boys record to 2-3.

Boys vs. Kings Christian

The boys were shut out 4-0 by Kings Christian last week despite a strong effort by both our offense and defense. This brings the boys record to 1-2.
